Africa
Like the cradle of mankind, Africa was where it all started for us.
Our work initially focused on the Eastern coast of Africa and its hinterland which comprises of Tanzania, Kenya, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Botswana. The area provided a springboard to creating new solutions for investment which provided both economic returns and impact. The region’s economic possibilities, driven by recent oil and gas discoveries and backed by Asia’s newfound dominance in the global economy, provided a perfect storm to creating innovative and inclusive solutions which brought together stakeholders from all groups in society.
We knew that our way of thinking was required in other parts of the continent and this enabled us to grow our presence from Southern and Eastern Africa up through Central Africa, and on to West Africa and North Africa. The continent as a whole is abundant in resources, home to the world’s youngest workforce and becoming an ever-crucial participant to global resource security. Within this backdrop, Africa has emerged as key stakeholder to the global economy and is seen as an important partner to Europe, the Middle East, India and the Far East.
On the continent, we are at the forefront of investing, by structuring innovative vehicles which support and scale robust, sustainable businesses. We not only invest ourselves, but work closely with our clients across the continent to unlock capital and build best-in-class sustainable practices.
