Prior to joining ThirdWay Partners, Zakir was an associate at a tier 1 law firm, Bowmans, in the Energy and Infrastructure Projects department for two years. At Bowmans, he focused on project development, structuring power purchase agreements and buy-and-sell-side mergers and acquisitions.
He was the in-house counsel at E3 Capital, an early-stage infrastructure fund investing in distributed electricity utilities in Sub-Saharan Africa for over four years.
Zakir attended the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours). He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
Zakir is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
